The Material Centre in Ústí nad Labem (ÚMC) is technically and personally equipped to solve research projects, especially in the area of development of new nanomaterials. Nanomaterials are prepared in the form of nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanostructures and nanocomposites using physical methods such as plasma technology and electrospinning and chemical syntheses and chemical modifications. Nanomaterials prepared at the ÚMC are used in environmental protection (sorbents, filtering and separating nanofiber membranes, biosensors) in the automotive industry (nanolayers and nanocoatings) and in biomedical applications (new pharmaceutical forms, diagnostics and tissue engineering).

The aim of the ÚMC is also to provide high-quality facilities for technology innovations in enterprises in the region of North and North-West Bohemia by organic interconnection of research, development and production. The ÚMC cooperates with a number of industrial partners not only in the Ústí Region.

Members of the ÚMC participate in the teaching of many study programs and fields not only at the faculty, but also at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences or at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UJEP. The fields of study are: Applied Nanotechnology, Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology, Computer Modeling in Science and Technology, Computer Methods in Science and Technology, Ecology and Environmental Protection, Materials Science and Materials Analysis. This is done at all levels of education (Bc., NMgr. And PhD. Studies).

The ÚMC solves the projects of OP PIK, OP RDE, GA CR, TA CR, MH CR, MEYS, especially in the area of development and testing of new nanomaterials. The ÚMC is involved in the large research infrastructure team NanoEnviCz.

Nanofiber laboratory equipment: electrospinning device, and instruments for measurement of air and liquid permeability of nanofibrous membranes.
